Netcool Suite Engineer

Desired Competencies (Technical/Behavioral Competency)

Must Have

1. 5+ years in IT operations, event management, or network monitoring
2. 3+ years of hands-on experience with IBM Netcool/OMNIbus, DASH, and at least one of: Netcool/Impact, IBM Network Manager
3. Strong understanding of ObjectServer architecture, probe/gateway configuration, and Netcool automation (triggers, procedures)
4. Experience with SQL-like ObjectServer queries and Impact policy language (IPL)
5. Familiarity with enterprise network protocols and infrastructure monitoring concepts

Key responsibilities/Expectations from the Role

Senior Netcool Suite of products Support Engineer is responsible for the administration, support, and stability of the IBM Netcool product suite, including Omnibus, Impact, DASH, Reporter, Probes, and Network Manager (ITNM), within a large-scale enterprise environment. This role serves as the primary technical escalation point, ensuring the platform delivers reliable event management and network visibility to operations teams. SQL knowledge is also needed

The main responsibilities of the role are as follows:

• Administer and maintain IBM Netcool/OMNIbus, Impact, DASH, Reporter, Probes, and IBM Network Manager (ITNM), including upgrades, patching, and configuration
• Provide Tier 2/3 support for incidents related to event correlation, probe/gateway failures, automation policies, and ObjectServer health
• Manage and tune event deduplication rules, automation triggers, and escalation workflows to reduce alert noise
• Collaborate with NOC, network, and application teams to onboard new event sources and maintain probe connectivity
• Develop and maintain runbooks, integration documentation, and standard operating procedures
• Coordinate with IBM support for case management, fix pack planning, and product roadmap alignment
• Support integrations with ITSM platforms (ServiceNow, Remedy) and SIEM tools where applicable
